The presentation was a great success with four outstanding teams presenting bold initiatives for planning the southern coastal area of Can Gio District to transform into a green and sustainable ecological urban area based on the computer game Cities: Skylines.

The teams consisted of members from various universities and high schools in the city: International University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport and Communications, High School for the Gifted – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Huu Huan High School, Le Quy Don High School, and Linh Trung High School.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu, Vice Rector of International University, shared: ?/span>From an educational perspective, with the University’s strength in leading the way in Education for sustainable development as reflected in the motto ‘INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, VNUHCM ?WORKING TOWARDS BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE WORLD? The School Board always promotes new activities to create more meaningful and creative playgrounds for students. Moreover, we also aspire to expand this playground for High School students to have the opportunity to participate, develop their thinking, learn new knowledge, and thereby demonstrate their leadership skills, and teamwork, and promote the voice of the younger generation in building Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general?/span>.

The teams achieved outstanding results after two challenging and meaningful weeks of the program. The Special Prize was awarded to team THE SERENITY, whose members came from the Faculty of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF), and Le Quy Don High School.

The Most Favorite Team Award belonged to GSS2302, whose members were from the Faculty of Engineering and Construction Management, International University, High School for the Gifted, and Nguyen Huu Huan High School.

In addition to the teams that received awards, the jury also recognized the dedication and effort of the two remaining teams, DREAM WEAVERS and PEP-GREEN.

The image of the southern region of Can Gio District’s planning on the Cities: Skylines platform by Team PEP-GREEN, with members from the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, and the Faculty of Engineering and Construction Management, International University.

Before the official project presentation, the teams actively participated in workshops to reinforce the necessary knowledge and skills to complete the project as smoothly as possible with high intensity for five consecutive days at International University. One of these workshops was an Active Youth Training session and an interaction with Miss. Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc.

The participants had an energetic morning attending the Active Youth Training session facilitated by the trainer PhD. Le Nguyen Thuy Van with dynamic activities that helped participants get to know their peers and effective teamwork. Moreover, they had the chance to interact and listen to the intimate sharing of Miss Intercontinental 2022 Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc.

PhD. Le Nguyen Thuy Van – Specialist from the Innovation and Technology Transfer Center introduced the Active Youth Training session to all teams.

During the program, the teams visited a Nipa Palm farm, enjoyed fresh Nipa Palm juice right at the farm, and listened to informative presentations about the sustainable Nipa Palm products of Vietnam Nipa Corporation (VIETNIPA). Moreover, the teams experienced the Can Gio Mangrove Protection Forest Management Board, a UNESCO-recognized Biosphere Reserve since 2000, and visited the coastal park of Can Thanh Town. The trip provided the participants with knowledge and a clearer understanding of Can Gio District, the importance of the Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, and why it is called the green lung of Ho Chi Minh City.

All teams explored the Nipa Palm farm together.

TRAINING ON 17 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS) AND URBAN, GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE

Participants of the program also had the opportunity to learn about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and received training on urban development and Green infrastructure. Ms. Khanh Thuong from UNDP Asia-Pacific and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nam from University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City provided insightful sharing sessions for all teams, helping them better understand the SDGs, fundamental knowledge of Green Urban development, the concept of a green city, and key considerations for developing a city strategy.

All teams were guided through useful tips for their group presentations. MEng. Tran Quang Dao from ISB Institute, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City shared important skills for a timely-focused presentation that made a good impression on the audience.

PhD. Tran Quang Dao – Lecturer at ISB Institute, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City posed a question to Mai Viet Khoi – Student from Le Quy Don High School during the presentation and project presentation skills training session.

Through 42 cards summarized from the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) facilitated by enthusiastic trainers from Climate Fresk Vietnam engaged in a learning and sharing activity about climate change. Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the climate picture, the causes and consequences of human impacts and natural phenomena, and concluded the necessary actions of individuals and communities for the environment.

Ms. Duyen Le – Green Entrepreneur specializing in Digital Transformation and Green Digital Skills, from GreenSys Management Solutions Corporation – along with the participants listened to Vo Hoang Tan Phat – Student from the Faculty of Construction Engineering and Management, International University presented his group’s climate picture.

The climate picture was arranged and decorated in an eye-catching manner by all members of teams GSS2302 and DREAM WEAVERS. The BME10 conference provides a unique forum for the international and domestic biomedical engineering community to share valuable experiences together, develop support networks, and strengthen collaboration to improve education, research and start-up in low-income, middle-income countries and advanced countries. The BME conference is held every two years, and this year marks the 10th iteration, marking a memorable and special milestone that highlights Vietnam’s progress in digital and high-tech transformation in the healthcare sector.

Prof. Ratko Magjarevic, President of the International Union for Engineering in Medicine and Biology, delivered the speech.

Developing healthcare towards 5P Medicine within countries belonging to the Ecosystem of low- and middle-income countries was the theme of the BME10 Conference. Reputable authors and scientists from 12 countries, including the US, France, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and others, registered 270 articles for reporting. The conference was highly praised for its professional caliber as well as promoting the image of the school and locality to the international scientific community, contributing to raising the prestige of the Vietnamese Biomedical Engineering industry on the world map.

Throughout the trip, the delegation of scientists from the International University, along with Mr. John Joshua Coward, specialist at the Institute for Environmental Education Research, representative of the RCE British Columbia and North Cascades Center at Simon Fraser University, spent significant time visiting various indigenous communities (the Chăm people in Bình Thuận and the Raglai people in Ninh Thuận) and engaged in meaningful interactions with the local farmers.

The team conducted surveys on the cultivation techniques for rice, cashews, grapes, and apples in Bình Thuận, and aloe vera in Ninh Thuận. According to Assocc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Hợp, Dean of School of Industrial Engineering and Management, and a member of the expert team, most of the farming techniques used by the local farmers have been passed down through generations, based on a deep connection with the land and nature. ?/span>Local farms face issues related to supply-demand, agricultural product preservation, harsh climate conditions, and lack of fresh water, leading to temporary and unsustainable changes in agricultural activities,?shared Assoc. The delegation also visited Canh Dong Viet Food Corporation, a company producing aloe vera products in Ninh Thuận province. Dr. Trần Th?Ngọc Diệp, Head of the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer at International University, said: ?/span>Canh Dong Viet Food Corporation is considered a local model of sustainable practices. Over the years, the company has established a stable value chain and promoted social welfare for the workforce, especially the indigenous community.?/span>

The experts conducted surveys and identified issues in the local areas that are of global concern. Dr. Nguyễn Đình Uyên, a lecturer from the School of Electrical Engineering and an expert in the group, shared: “The survey team aims to promote sustainable activities and collaborate with stakeholders to make significant contributions to the local agricultural economy and improve the livelihoods of farmers struggling with the threats of climate change.”

After 6 months of launching and organizing with 3 challenging rounds and parallel activities, the competition found the Top 6 teams that qualified for the Third Round called Start-Up with the challenge of presenting the team’s plan to the Jury.

At the Final Round, each team has a total of 20 minutes, 10 minutes to present their plan, and 10 minutes to answer questions asked by the judges. After that, the judges posed questions for the teams to criticize. After all 6 groups had finished competing, the judges consulted and announced the scores of each group as well as the winning teams.

 In the opening speech, Prof.Dr. Le Van Canh – Vice Director of International University – recognized the efforts of the teams: “After two rounds of competition, there were 6 excellent teams entering the Final round with extremely impressive business ideas. Those who enter the Final round today are considered as the testament to tireless effort and passion. I hope all teams will be proud of this. After unique and challenging presentations, Team 6 excellently won the First Prize with the idea “NESTIBEAUTY – Beauty radiating from Bird Nest” to bring Vietnamese collagen bird’s nest products to the US market. The team was awarded the Gold Cup, which was a Summer camp at the US Andrews University campus worth $5,000 for each team member, in addition to prizes for all 6 finalists worth VND 5,000,000 in cash and Global Leadership scholarships (1 weeks studying in the US) when enrolling in the Master of Business Administration program of Andrews University in joint training with International University and National Economics University.

                                            Team 6 presented the idea of ​​bringing bird’s nest to the US market.

                          The Board of Judges awarded the First Prize of the ABPC 2023 Competition to Team 6.

 The Second prize was awarded to Team 24 from Hanoi with the project of developing a smart motorbike ladder product in the Thai market “An Innovative Export Strategy to Unlock Thailand’s Vast Motorcycle Market”. The Silver Cup and Summer camp awards at the US Andrews University campus worth $3,000 per member were given to the team.

               Team 24 presented the smart slope project and the goal of conquering the land of the Golden Temple.

 The Third prize was awarded to Team 15 with the project “May Silk launches Lotus Silk Hijab into Turkey?to exploit the potential of Vietnamese lotus silk and export lotus silk hijab (headscarf) to the Turkish market.

 Team 15 presented the idea to build a cultural bridge between Vietnam and Turkey.

Prof. Kimberly Pichot – Principal of the School of Business, Computing and Aviation – awarded the Third Prize to Team 15.

 The Top 6 awards went to Team 10, Teams 14, and Team 23. Team 10 brought the concept “Abivin ?The Chance To Enter Into South Korea Logistics Market? Team 14 came up with the project “Coffee Vietnam Product In Sweden Market? and Team 23 with the concept “International Business Plan For Essential Oils Business in the US?

In addition to the final awards, Team 11 won the “Most Popular Video” award for the video with the highest media votes. Also, Team 4 won the “Best Conduct Competition” award with their ability to weigh their acumen and ability to behave through an online interview with Professor Nguyen Viet Anh – Andrews University with the question: “If your group had the opportunity to share an elevator from the 1st floor to the 70th floor with the investor CEO for 3 minutes, what would you say to the CEO about your business plan?
